MUSEUM HOSTS TALK ON CLOCKS.

Antique clock collectors were busy keeping time Sunday as they talked shop about their historic treasures at a seminar sponsored by the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) is an American non-profit organization with about 25,000 members.

A crowd of more than 50 enthusiasts toted their ticking timepieces to the Stagecoach stagecoach, heavy, closed vehicle on wheels, usually drawn by horses, formerly used to transport passengers and goods overland. Throughout the afternoon, Gilmore helped other collectors with free appraisals and evaluations of their timepieces.

Seminar participants also admired the museum's antique clock collection, which can be viewed until the first weekend in February.

The American Home is a center of intercultural exchange located in Vladimir, Russia. The home is designed to model a typical American suburban home and its main focus is the ESL school that provides lessons for Russian students.

The selection of that era is based on the Stagecoach Inn Museum's completion as the ``Grand Union Hotel'' in 1876. The inn then operated in various forms until it moved to the Newbury Park site in the mid 1960s.

To show how electricity changed most clocks from mechanical to electrical pieces, no clocks made after the 1920s are included in the display. Provided by members of the NAWCC, all timepieces at the museum are mechanically powered either by springs or weights.

Included in the display of 50 pieces is a Boy Scout sun watch, a sterling silver travel clock and a small novelty boudoir clock from the early 1900s. A dollar watch, 30-hour carriage clock carriage clock

The Stagecoach Inn Museum is located at 51 S. Ventu Park Road in Newbury Park. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for seniors 62 and older, $1 for children age 5 to 12 and children under 5 are free. For more information, call the museum at (805) 498-9441.
