The district may hire a Bakersfield-based recruiting firm to assist in the search for a new top administrator. ``We are investigating working with a recruitment firm that would go out and help us to do a search and find some candidates,'' Superintendent Mike Summerbell said. ``Hopefully we will sign an agreement with that company early next week, and they will proceed to help us recruit and analyze candidates and help us find a good superintendent.'' The board is seeking to replace Summerbell, who is retiring in August after 11 years at Muroc and two years in the top post. The search process has taken several turns. Trustees initially sought applicants from among district employees, drawing two applicants, but one then decided to leave the district and the other pulled out from consideration, trustees said. The search was then expanded to include applicants from outside the school district, but the trustees did not find a suitable candidate from among the 15 people who applied. Muroc then began talks with the superintendent of the El Segundo El Segundo (ĕl sēgŭn`dō), industrial city (1990 pop. 15,223), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1917. Its products include navigation and computer systems, aircraft parts, office machines, telephone apparatus, and Unified School District, who was planning on retiring, to work as an interim superintendent.
