samples after Gardena police got a possible match on two unsolved rape cases from 1999.

Ladrill Bogan, 33, was ordered by a judge to give a cheek swab after Gardena police got a "cold hit," matching his DNA on file with the state with evidence from the rape cases.

"We had to confirm that it was his DNA. We're not sure it's him. There's a suggestion it's him," Gardena Sgt. Mike Bartlebaugh said. "We've got to get a known sample from him and make a comparison with the DNA we got from the original crimes."

"You are talking eight years ago. To actually hit on something that's in the databank, it's satisfying," Bartlebaugh added.

Bogan has not been arrested or charged in connection with the rape cases.

Records show Bogan was paroled in 2001 after being convicted of a Gardena residential burglary burglary, at common law, the breaking and entering of a dwelling house of another at night with the intent to commit a felony, whether the intent is carried out or not.  in 2000.
