MURDER CHARGES FILED IN TWO DEATHS MAN TO STAND TRIAL AFTER HIT-RUN CRASH.

LANCASTER - A Palmdale man accused of fleeing from a fatal crash in a stolen motor home and colliding with another vehicle, fatally injuring a teenager, has been ordered to stand trial on charges of murder.

, 40, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 49-year-old Lilian Mary Arevalo of Palmdale and 16-year-old Brian McWright of Lancaster.

Hall was also bound over for trial on two counts of attempted murder In the criminal law, attempted murder is committed when the defendant does an act that is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the crime of murder and, at the time of these acts, the person has a specific intention to kill.  of a peace officer for steering close to patrol cars and on felony driving under the influence of alcohol. Four counts of attempted murder on a peace officer were dismissed by the judge, who presided over the preliminary hearing last week, Hall's attorney said.

``That's what the court found: There was insufficient evidence insufficient evidence n. a finding (decision) by a trial judge or an appeals court that the prosecution in a criminal case or a plaintiff in a lawsuit has not proved the case because the attorney did not present enough convincing evidence.  to hold my client to answer (on the dismissed charges),'' Deputy Alternate Public Defender public defender, governmental official who represents indigent persons accused of crime. The 28-foot-long motor home had been stolen June 18 from a Pearblosssom gasoline station, probably within one to three hours of the first fatal crash.

The motor home hit Arevalo's car after 4 p.m. June 18 on 47th Street East, south of Avenue R-8. Arevalo's car went out of control and crashed into a utility pole.

The motor home kept going, allegedly causing two other minor collisions before deputies spotted it near Avenue P and 26th Street East.

Deputies pursued the motor home for about eight minutes until it crashed into two more cars at Palmdale Boulevard and 50th Street East.

The car containing McWright was dragged more than 100 feet before the motor home overturned. Hall was arrested there.

McWright was on his way with his older brother, a cousin and the brother's girlfriend to a Juneteenth celebration at Jackie Robinson Park in Littlerock.

McWright, who attended Lancaster High School Lancaster High School may refer to:
