MULTIMEDIA SHAREHOLDERS CONVENE FOR ANNUAL MEETING; BOARD ELECTS J. WILLIAM GRIMES CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

 GREENVILLE, S.C., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The annual meeting of shareholders of Multimedia, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: MMEDC), the Greenville- based media communications company, was held today at The Peace Center for the Performing Arts. Chairman of the Board Walter E. Bartlett and company officers reviewed Multimedia's 1992 operating performance and discussed first quarter 1993 results.
 Bartlett announced that Multimedia's board of directors had elected J. William Grimes president and chief executive officer of the corporation. Grimes has been the company's president and chief executive operating officer. In addition, Michael C. Burrus, executive vice president of Multimedia Cablevision Company, was elected president of the division. He succeeds Donald D. Sbarra, who was named chairman of Multimedia Cablevision.
 The following 12 persons were elected to Multimedia's board of directors: Walter E. Bartlett, George H.V. Cecil, Rhea T. Eskew, David L. Freeman, J. William Grimes, Robert E. Hamby, Jr., John T. LaMacchia, Leslie G. McCraw, Dorothy P. Ramsaur, Donald D. Sbarra, Eliabeth P. Stall and William C. Stutt. Special recognition was given to retiring board member James E. Jolley who had served on Multimedia's board since its formation in 1968. The Jolley family is one of the founding families of Multimedia.
 Shareholders also approved the company's Director Stock Option Plan and an amendment to the 1991 Stock Option Plan, as well as ratifying the appointment of KPMG Peat Marwick as Multimedia's independent auditors for 1993.
 Multimedia, Inc., publishes 11 daily and 49 non-daily newspapers; own and operates five television stations, eight radio stations and a video production company; operates 140 cable television franchises in five states; a security alarm business; and produces and syndicates quality television programming, including Donahue, Sally Jessy Raphael, Jerry Springer, and Rush Limbaugh, The Television Show.
