MUCC GRANTS CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION TO CONSUMERS POWER

JACKSON, Mich., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- One of Michigan's most active environmental organizations, the Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC), has given Consumers Power Company a "Certificate of Appreciation" in recognition of service to the community. Co-signers of the certificate are the Salvation Army and Safari Club International.
Consumers Power donated four working freezers last fall from its "Reduce the Use" appliance recycling program to the MUCC, for use in its Sportsmen Against Hunger benefit. The freezers were delivered to soup kitchens or processing plants to preserve game prior to being prepared for meals. The utility will also donate five freezers to support the benefit this year.
"We are pleased with this recognition from the MUCC, one of Michigan's most prominent environmental groups," said William L. Beckman, manager of Consumers Power's environmental and technical services department. "We are pleased to be able to support this important hunger prevention program again this year," noted Beckman. MUCC publishes "Tuebor Terra" and "Michigan Out-of-Doors" magazines.
Consumers Power Company, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE: CMS), is Michigan's largest natural gas and electric utility serving almost 6 million of the state's 9 million residents in 67 of the 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
