MTX, Inc. Announces Broad Enhancements to the Network Computing Terminal, The First Network Computer with Coax and/or Ethernet Connection.

MTX, Inc., designer and manufacturer of the first Network Computing Terminal (NCT) and a leader in thin-client technology, joins QNX Software Systems Ltd. (QSSL) and AMD to showcase the NCT and its newest enhancements.

As a result, the NCT, one of the most sophisticated network computers, supports Citrix Systems, Inc.'s (Nasdaq:CTXS) Independent Computing Architecture (ICA(R)) and X11, TN3270E and TN5250 clients, and LAN printing capabilities.

The NCT is a powerful, cost effective computing solution providing access to legacy mainframe and midrange hosts, as well as Internet, intranet, and windowing applications. Uniquely capable of connecting to existing coax and/or Ethernet cabling, the NCT is designed to maximize investments in cabling and hardware through a robust migration platform. The migration from fixed function devices to the NCT is a Plug and Play solution requiring no wiring changes. The NCT provides access to IP and client/server applications while offering superior connectivity and a broad, enhanced feature set, including a resident web browser. The NCT enables mainframe and midrange host users to enhance desktop computing capabilities and meet today's changing needs.

The NCT utilizes Citrix's ICA technology, in conjunction with WinFrame(R) or MetaFrame(TM) thin-client/server software, which enables the delivery of PC applications to the desktop. Through ICA, users are given the perfect complement to document or application centric technologies used to enhance the Internet and intranet. The NCT utilizes the AMD ELAN(C) processor, which provides a powerful platform for driving the many capabilities of the NCT, including the unique Coax Adapter Card and resident 3270 CUT mode emulator. Based on the QNX(R) Realtime OS and the Photon microGUI(R), it allows for rapid boot up from a power-off state thereby reducing reliance upon servers.
