MTV MOVIE AWARDS GOLD-SPRAYED CORN 'HONORS' ENTERTAINERS.

Byline: DAVID KRONKE

Staff Writer

Will Ferrell and Sasha Baron Cohen enjoyed a passionate lip-lock, Sarah Silverman and Jessica Biel almost managed a kiss, and that little smirk slipped from Paris Hilton's mouth for the first time in, well, ever.

That was the big news Sunday evening from the MTV Movie Awards at Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Studios. Ferrell and Cohen's embrace was the result of their accepting the Best Kiss trophy -- well, a box apiece of popcorn spray-painted gold -- for their smooch in "Talladega Nights." Silverman and Biel's tease came during a sketch in which Silverman, who served as the ceremony's host, complained about how MTV always sought out salacious moments.

And Hilton's frown came during Silverman's opening monologue. Noting that Paris would soon to go to jail - which elicited a huge roar of approval from the crowd - Silverman then made an impressively off-color joke. The director cut to Hilton in the audience; while she managed some equanimity as the crowd cheered her impending imprisonment, she was clearly displeased with the jape.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" was named Best Movie, and the film's star, Johnny Depp, won for Best Performance. Cohen won for Best Comedic Performance for "Borat," Jack Nicholson was named Best Villain for "The Departed," and Jaden Smith won for Best Breakthrough Performance in "The Pursuit of Happyness."

Mike Myers won the MTV Generation Award. Best Movie Spoof, an award going to a fan who submitted a short film to MTV, went to "United 300," a mash-up of "United 93" and "300." Best Fight went to "300."

Best Summer Movie You Haven't Seen Yet went to "Transformers," which was advertised heavily throughout the production.
