MTT-S: HP Adds Major Enhancements to HP 8753 and 8720 Network-analyzer Families.ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 1999-- New Analyzers Offer More Choices and Superior Performance in High-volume Production Applications Hewlett-Packard Company today introduces enhancements to its HP 8753 and 8720 families of RF and microwave vector network analyzers A specialized hardware device or software in a desktop or laptop computer that captures packets transmitted in a network for routine inspection and problem detection. Also called a "sniffer," "packet sniffer," "packet analyzer," "traffic analyzer" and "protocol analyzer," the network , including new microwave vector analyzers that are the only analyzers available with economical transmission/reflection test sets for cost-conscious manufacturing environments. The new analyzers provide enhanced response calibration and refined four-parameter displays, and are available with a variety of options that allow the analyzers to be configured for specific applications. New features make these analyzers easier to use than previous HP models. The ET versions of all the analyzers include a transmission/reflection test set for performing forward-transmission and reflection measurements; the ES models include an S-parameter test set for evaluating both forward- and reverse-device characteristics. The HP 8753ET/ES ET/ES Embedded Training/Embedded Simulation instruments are available with measurement frequencies from 30kHz to 3GHz or optionally to 6GHz, and the HP 8719ET/ES, HP 8720ET/ES and HP 8722ET/ES (HP 8720E family) are available with measurement frequencies from 50MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. to 13.5GHz, 20GHz or 40GHz. All of the analyzers now benefit from enhanced response calibration, which corrects for source match during transmission measurements, unlike a standard transmission-response calibration. This provides accuracy approaching that of a full two-port calibration in about half the time. In addition, the ES models perform through-reflect-line/line-reflect-match (TRL TRL In currencies, this is the abbreviation for the Turkish Lira. The HP 8719ES, 8720ES and 8720ES also offer an optional fourth sampler sampler, sample piece of needlework or embroidery, of silk, cotton, or worsted, for the preservation of some pattern or as an example of the ability of a child or a beginner. In museums and private collections there are samplers dating from as early as 1643. that allows full TRL/LRM calibration. For measuring non-insertable devices, the analyzers provide adapter-removal calibration and are compatible with HP's software-based electronic calibration (ECal) products. ECal products offer automated calibration, which reduces operator fatigue and connector damage, and provides accurate calibration when measuring non-insertable devices. The instruments' four-parameter display can now be viewed without first performing a full two-port calibration. New front-panel keys simplify access to the power menu and marker search functions; a return key offers a shortcut (1) In Windows, a shortcut is an icon that points to a program or data file. Shortcuts can be placed on the desktop or stored in other folders, and double clicking a shortcut is the same as double clicking the original file. to the previously displayed menu. More Flexibility for Specific Applications For amplifier test, the HP 8753ET and 8753ES offer an option that displays the swept second and third harmonics of an amplifier. All of the ES models offer options that enable users to add an external amplifier to increase power to the device under test, or to add attenuators or isolators in the input path for testing high-power amplifiers. For mixer testing, frequency-offset mode allows the receiver frequency to be offset from that of the internal synthesized syn·the·sized adj. 1. The time-domain option available for all instruments allows users to locate and resolve discontinuities in the device under test, fixture or cables. This option also is helpful for tuning cavity-resonator filters, making it possible to view the time-domain response, and identify specific resonators and coupling apertures that need to be tuned. Other more specialized configurations are available. For example, the low noise-floor option for all ES models allows the port 2 coupler Refers to a myriad of different types of sockets for plugging in electric or electronic cables or devices. Also, the frequency ranges of the HP 8753ET and 8753ES can be extended to 6.8GHz, and all the ES models can be configured with a three-port test set to measure all nine S-parameters associated with three-port devices such as duplexers or couplers. U.S. Availability and Pricing The ET models range from $24,750 for the HP 8753ET to $64,750 for the HP 8753ET. The ES models range from $31,700 for the HP 8753ES to $78,850 for the HP 8722ES. The products are expected to be available July 1, with delivery estimated at eight weeks from receipt of order.
