MTNA partners with the Performing Arts Medicine Association.


MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association
MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) 
 has partnered with the Performing Arts Medicine performing arts medicine A developing subspeciality of occupational medicine that formally addresses the medical complaints of those who toot, tickle, trill, or tap, playing musical instruments, warbling, or dancing Common problems Those of a specific muscle-tendon  Association (PAMA) and the Texas Center for Music and Medicine at the University of North Texas to develop health education materials specifically for National Association of Schools of Music The National Association of Schools of Music, NASM, was founded in 1924 and is an accreditor for higher education music school in the United States of America. The association currently accredit 610 institutions of higher learning.  (NASM) students.

The project is in response to new NASM guidelines that direct member schools to educate all music students about health issues associated with music. Grants will fund research by medical and science experts in the areas of neuromusculoskeletal, mental and vocal health. The information from these studies will be presented during an interactive conference in Fort Worth, Texas Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas, 18th-largest city in the United States[1], and voted one of "America’s Most Livable Communities. , this fall. MTNA Vice President Gall Berenson, NCTM, will represent MTNA at this conference. Materials then will be available. Using public health methodologies and field-testing, further revisions will be made and then the materials will be distributed to all NASM schools for use with students.
