Besides, it simply costs too much!"

What is your answer? Sometimes, these questions surprise us, and we may or may not be prepared to give a convincing answer. We can say how rewarding it is to belong to MTNA, but often, prospective members are looking for Looking for

These all are very tangible benefits of MTNA membership, but there are benefits of MTNA membership that cannot be measured in precise amounts. The most important benefit is the professionalism that membership in a national association brings to each of us. Each of us upholds a higher standard as a result. Being a member not only in the local and state associations, but also the national association, gives one a different perspective. We become part of a unified effort to enrich the lives of students of all ages, nationalities, cultural backgrounds and social-economic scales through music. In short, WE TRY HARDER!

Another intangible benefit is networking--those conversations in which we dialogue about our concerns, ask questions about teaching, technique and repertoire and commiserate com·mis·er·ate

As individual teachers, we have little influence in our society about the role of music. MTNA provides a collective voice for our profession. Working together, we can make a difference. Anytime that you, as an individual teacher, mention that you are a member of a national music teachers association, your prestige, your credibility and your stature as a teacher are raised in the eyes of your current and potential customers students and parents. Is your MTNA membership plaque prominently displayed in your studio? Does your business card mention your affiliation with local, state and national associations? Does it mention that you are certified See certification. ? Are your business cards readily available in your studio for parents and students to take for friends and others interested in music lessons?
