MTI Gladiator ESS Awarded Highest Classification By RAID Advisory Board (RAB).

MTI Technology Corp. (Nasdaq: MTIC) Monday announced its Gladiator ESS family of storage systems with patented fault-tolerant technology has been awarded the RAID Advisory Board's (RAB) highest classification Gold Logo as a Disaster Tolerant Disk System Plus (DTDS+). This makes MTI one of only four storage vendors to achieve this classification.

RAB classifies disk systems and array controllers in accordance with the degree they meet the RAB's Extended Data Availability and Protection (EDAP) criteria. These data availability criteria were established to assist users in selecting a disk system that more fully meets their information protection needs.

The RAID Advisory Board's independent classification of MTI's Gladiator ESS is valuable to consumers of RAID because it gives an objective review of the product's features and benefits. To achieve this classification, the Gladiator ESS family of products had to offer protection against the different criteria including disk failures, I/O bus failures, power outages, component failure, controller failure, cache failure, and temperature thresholds. The systems must also provide comprehensive fault analysis and notification as well as be able to function during certain software and hardware upgrades or other maintenance activities. A vendor's ability to meet the 22 criteria determines their ranking among seven classifications.
