MTCT awarded $1.2m task order to support Air Force Transformation.

MTC Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:MTCT) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Modern Technologies Corporation (MTC), with teammates BearingPoint and Jones Technologies, Inc., won the competition for the $1.2 million, one-year task to provide services to the Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command's (AFMC) newly formed Transformation Office. The Command is located on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, one of the largest and most important bases in the United States Air Force. The task order was awarded by the Aeronautical Systems Center's Advisory and Assistance Services Program Office under Modern Technologies' Blanket Purchase Agreement and General Services Administration Schedule.

"Transformation" of the military is the major pursuit of the Department of Defense under the Bush administration, as directed by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. The Air Force has defined transformation as a process by which the military achieves asymmetric advantage through changes in operational concepts, organizational structure, and technological capabilities that significantly improve our warfighting capabilities or ability to meet the demands of a changing security environment.

MTC's role in helping AFMC develop an integrated approach to meet DoD's transformation expectations will be to assist in formulating a strategy to achieve the Commander's intent of inculcating an Air and Space Expeditionary Forces (AEF) mindset and culture that will rapidly deliver war-winning capability. The concept of AEF, based on the ancient Roman Legion, is to build fighting forces of small, mobile units capable of changing their tactics and organization to suit the fight at hand--with the added lethality of air and space assets. Other objectives include providing tools to enable the Command to be innovative, adaptive and responsive; changing processes to ensure clients can easily conduct business with the Command; and providing products and services that are effective and efficient.
