Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
Metro Rapidway now under construction, officials said Monday.

The project would provide parking in the West Valley for the new transit line, which many officials see as an alternative to the increasingly crowded Ventura (101) Freeway.

The 690-space parking facility at Vanowen Street and Canoga Avenue, across from Boeing's Rocketdyne plant, would likely be built separately from the Rapidway so as not to delay the planned 2005 opening.

City Councilman Dennis Zine, who had pushed for parking so commuters in his West Valley district could easily access the Rapidway, said the Boeing site would be a ``win-win for everyone.''

``I don't want to end up like NoHo or Universal, where there's not enough parking,'' Zine said of the Valley's two subway stations, in North Hollywood and Universal City.

The 14-mile, $330 million busway, the first mass-transit project in the Valley in a generation, is designed to ferry riders between North Hollywood and Warner Center in 40 minutes or less.

The MTA approved an environmental document in 2002 that included parking lots along the route, but has been pursuing an additional lot at the busway's western terminus Terminus (tûr`mĭnəs), in ancient Rome, both the boundary markers between properties and the name of the god who watched over boundaries. .

Last year, the agency negotiated with Westfield officials about building a structure near its Shoppingtown Promenade or Topanga Plaza, and also talked with other area property owners, but the 3.8-acre Boeing property emerged as the preferred option, MTA officials said.

The Boeing site would provide 465 spaces and is located just south of MTA-owned property with room for 225 spaces.

The addition would slightly change the route of the busway - adding a new stop at the park-and-ride facility - and would require an addendum addendum n. an addition to a completed written document. Most commonly this is a proposed change or explanation (such as a list of goods to be included) in a contract, or some point that has been subject of negotiation after the contract was originally proposed by  to the already-approved environmental review, which is being challenged by residents' lawsuit, now on appeal.

The cost to develop the site would be $10.6 million. The cost to buy the land has not been negotiated, MTA officials said.

The MTA board will vote on both the addendum to the environmental review, as well as plans to move forward with the Boeing talks at its meeting later this month.

A separate transit hub in Warner Center is slated to break ground in February.
