VAN NUYS - The MTA's new San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
 governance council will hold its first meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Van Nuys Library, 6250 Sylmar Ave., in the Van Nuys Civic Center.

The council's nine members will be sworn in, elect officers and hear an update on the state budget crisis, expected to result in $500 million in cuts to Metropolitan Transportation Authority projects.
