MTA's new facility engineer.


Vincent Montanti has been appointed the new Facility Engineer of the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge Noun 1. Bronx-Whitestone Bridge - a suspension bridge across the East River in New York City

 Bridges and Tunnels most heavily traveled facilities, which is to begin a $136 million roadway deck replacement project in June. He succeeds Rocco D'Angelo who was recently appointed Deputy Chief Engineer and Director of the Triborough Bridge Triborough Bridge, New York City, connecting the boroughs of Manhattan, the Bronx, and Queens. Completed in 1936, it comprises three separate sections—a bridge crossing the East River, a bridge spanning the Harlem River, and a fixed bridge across the Bronx  and Randall's Island Randall's Island is situated in the East River in New York City. It is separated from Manhattan on the west by the river's main channel, from Queens on the east by the Hell Gate, and from the Bronx on the north by the Bronx Kill. .

Montanti brings more than 18 years of engineering and construction experience in the private and public sector to his new assignment where he will lead the ongoing effort to modernize the crossing, reduce its weight and increase the service life of the span.

"During his 14 years at MTA Bridges and Tunnels Vincent Montanti has demonstrated exceptional technical and managerial skill on major Capital Program projects," said MTA Bridges and Tunnels President Michael C. Ascher. "His professional experience has prepared him to meet the demanding challenge of managing the replacement of the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge's roadway deck while the facility continues to serve its customers."

Since 2001, Montanti has been the Assistant Facility Engineer of the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, responsible for the Tunnel's current rehabilitation of its roadway deck, walls and fire fighting system.

In his prior assignments at MTA Bridges and Tunnels, Montanti has served as the Assistant Facility Engineer at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the United States, and the Queens Midtown Tunnel The Queens Midtown Tunnel (sometimes simply Midtown Tunnel) is a toll road in New York City. It crosses under the East River and connects the Borough of Queens (at the Long Island City terminus of I-495, the Long Island Expressway) with the Borough of Manhattan (between the .

Prior to joining MTA Bridges and Tunnels, Montanti started his career as a Municipal Engineer with Robert C. Bogart & Associates in Flemington, NJ. He also worked for the Frederic R. Harris Co. as a Project Manager for Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, self-sustaining public corporation established in 1921 by the states of New York and New Jersey to administer the activities of the New York–New Jersey port area, which has a waterfront of c.  projects, including the PATH system.

A Staten Island native, Montanti, holds a B.E. in Civil Engineering and an M.E. in Geotechnical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology Stevens is known for its rigorous engineering, science, and technological management curricula. Among the prominent research centers of Stevens is the Davidson Laboratory, Wireless Network Security Center, Keck Geotechnical Laboratory, Plasma Physics Laboratory, Nicoll Environmental  in Hoboken, NJ.
