Business/Technology Editors

MAHWAH, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 2000

Portable MP3 players make it easy to enjoy downloaded music virtually anywhere, with one glaring exception - the car.

Now, AIWA AIWA Asian Immigrant Women Advocates
AIWA Armenian International Women's Association
offers a simple solution - car stereo receivers that provide a quick, easy connection for portable digital audio players.

Every AIWA car stereo receiver - both CD and cassette - features a front panel input into which a portable MP3 player can be plugged to play digital music files through the car stereo system. With one simple connection everyone in the car can enjoy downloaded music. And, not incidentally, the safety issue of listening to a portable player using headphones Head-mounted speakers. Headphones have a strap that rests on top of the head, positioning a pair of speakers over both ears. For listening to music or monitoring live performances and audio tracks, both left and right channels are required.  is rendered moot. Using AIWA's auxiliary input couldn't be easier - all that's needed is a wire with a mini plug on each end; one end goes into the portable player's headphone jack, the other into the car stereo unit's auxiliary input, conveniently mounted on the front panel.

Besides MP3 players, portable CD, cassette and MiniDisc A compact digital audio disc from Sony that comes in read-only and rewritable versions. Introduced in late 1993, the MiniDisc has been most popular in Japan. The read-only 2.5" disc stores 140MB compared to 650MB on a CD, but holds the same 74 minutes worth of music due to Sony's Adaptive  players can also be connected through the auxiliary input. That means that owners of AIWA CD receivers can enjoy their cassette collection using a personal cassette player, and owners of AIWA cassette receivers can easily connect a portable CD player.

AIWA car stereo receivers offer plenty of other unique features. Have a favorite radio program that comes on during that daily commute? Every AIWA car stereo CD and cassette receiver offers My Information, a feature that will automatically tune in that favorite program every day - even if a CD is playing or the unit is switched off.

Admire those steering wheel-mounted stereo controls on some cars? No need to buy a new car - AIWA offers a steering wheel remote with four of its car CD receivers and three of its cassette receivers. Just clip it onto the steering wheel for convenient control of volume and station tuning.

Ever find that when switching between CD and the tuner that the volume needs adjusting? AIWA's Source Level Adjustment, a new feature, makes it easy to match output levels among the tuner bands and CD or cassette so that the volume doesn't vary when switching from source to source.

And how about those finicky fin·ick·y

Insisting capriciously on getting just what one wants; difficult to please; fastidious: a finicky eater.
music buffs who, when listening at home, make a point of sitting equi-distant between the left and right speakers for the best stereo effect? That's just not possible in a car. But AIWA has the answer - Driver's Sound Stage Adjustment that at the push of a button adjusts front/rear fade and left/right balance for ideal stereo imaging at the driver's seat.

In addition to these features, AIWA car stereo receivers offer built-in high power amplifiers, detachable front panels, Smart Jog control for ease-of-use and a less cluttered front panel, dramatic cobalt blue illumination, and every CD receiver will play CD-R (CD-Recordable) A writable CD technology using a type of compact disc that can be recorded, but not erased (CD-Rs are "write once" discs). CD-R discs are used to master CD-ROMs, to back up data and to make copies of data for distribution.  and CD-RW (CD-ReWritable) The only rewritable CD technology. CD-RW disks look like other CD media, but with close inspection, they have a more polished surface with a very dark blue-gray cast.  discs.
