MOVIE STAR REPORTS SECOND QUARTER RESULTS

 NEW YORK, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Movie Star, Inc. (AMEX: MSI) today reporto $37,606,000, vs. sales of $37,088,000 during the second quarter ended Dec. 31, 1991. During the second quarter of fiscal 1993, net income amounted to $1,202,000, or $.08 per share, compared to net income of $936,000, or $.06 per share, in the second quarter of fiscal 1992.
 For the six months ended Dec. 31, 1992, sales amounted to $69,157,000, vs. sales of $71,182,000 during the six months ended Dec. 31, 1991. Net income during the first six months of fiscal 1993 totaled $1,948,000, or $.14 per share, compared to net income of $1,940,000, or $.13 per share, during the first six months of fiscal 1992.
 Commenting on the results, Mark M. David, chairman of Movie Star, said, "We are pleased to note that during the recently ended quarter we recovered a portion of the sales decline experienced during the first quarter. We are also pleased to report the sale of two plants, one of which was originally closed in 1990, and a resulting gain of $735,000 in the second quarter results. The sale of those facilities and corresponding gain allows us to recover a substantial portion of the $950,000 loss recorded in 1990 as a result of the closing of the aforementioned plant and other facilities which took place in that year."
 Movie Star, Inc. designs, manufactures, markets and sells an extensive line of ladies sleepwear, robes, leisurewear, loungewear, panties and daywear; men's work and leisure shirts; children's clothing; and also operates 24 retail outlet stores. Effective Jan. 1, 1993, the company formally changed its name from Sanmark-Stardust Inc. to Movie Star, Inc.
