MOVAZ COMPLETES TELCORDIA OSMINE SERVICES PROCESS FOR RBOC.Movaz Networks, a provider of optical networking solutions for Metro Edge, Metro Access and Metro Core, has successfully completed the Telcordia OSMINE (Operations Systems Modification of Intelligent Network Elements) A system from Telcordia for verifying compatibility with Telcordia-designed operating systems. Services process for its RAYexpress and RAYextender products. The Telcordia OSMINE Services process enables network equipment compatibility and interoperability with Telcordia operations support systems Operations Support Systems (also called Operational Support Systems or OSS) are computer systems used by telecommunications service providers. The term OSS most frequently describes "network systems" dealing with the telecom network itself, supporting processes such (OSS). Eighty percent of the US telecommunications networks depend on software developed and maintained by Telcordia, making the Telcordia OSMINE Services process critical for deployment of new technology in the largest metropolitan networks. The strategic relationship between Movaz and Telcordia was established at the inception of Movaz. Movaz had obtained COMMON LANGUAGE CLEI CLEI Centro Latinoamericano de Estudios En Informatica CLEI Common Language Equipment Identification (standard used to identify telecommunications equipment) codes for its RAY products over 15 months ago. Support for the Telcordia TIRKS TIRKS Trunk Integrated Record Keeping System System was completed in the RAYexpress and RAYextender products at the beginning of this year. Now with the June completion of the Telcordia NMA System testing, Movaz products are ready to be fully operationalized, a critical step toward volume deployment in RBOCs. "Movaz Networks has shown an extremely strong commitment to the RBOC (Regional Bell Operating Company) The Bell telephone companies that were spun off of AT&T by court order in 1984 (the Divestiture). Also known as the "Baby Bells," the initial seven RBOCs were Nynex, Bell Atlantic, BellSouth, Southwestern Bell, US West, market by engaging the Telcordia OSMINE Services process early in their development cycle," said Dennis Tinley, vice president, customer solutions, Telcordia Technologies. "Our relationship with Movaz extends beyond the close collaboration on some of the advanced DWDM (Dense WDM) The term given to wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) when significantly more channels were being added. Since WDM is increasingly more "dense" all the time, both terms are used synonymously. See WDM. DWDM - wavelength division multiplexing functionality introduced by Movaz. We recognize Movaz as a leader in the use of GMPLS (Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching) In a WDM optical networking system, it is the ability to route a data transmission based on the wavelength of light that carries it. to provide a standards-based optical control plane and we look forward to expanding our collaboration to include leveraging embedded GMPLS for the management of next generation optical networks." "We have been relentless in our efforts to reduce operations expenses and lifecycle costs of metro optical products by adding many advanced capabilities enabled through both integrated hardware architecture and the incorporation of GMPLS control plane," states Bijan Khosravi, founder, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. of Movaz Networks. "OSS management of these capabilities is a critical element. Our joint work with Telcordia will facilitate the deployment of GMPLS routed wavelength services and finally create a unified optical infrastructure for RBOCs to deliver cost effective optical services across Regional and Metro networks." Movaz Networks has been shipping generally available products since Q4, 2001 and has announced numerous customer wins. Its RAY product portfolio is deployed in the US as well as internationally in Europe and Asia Pacific. About Movaz Networks, Inc. Movaz Networks provides next generation all optical solutions for delivery of cost effective wavelength services. The company's products, designed for established and emerging carriers, are full-featured carrier-class solutions incorporating advanced optical transport, distributed photonic switching, GMPLS (generalized multi-protocol label switching) protocols, and standards based network management. With this technology, Movaz is well positioned to become a leader in the optical domain, currently served by companies such as Ciena (Nasdaq: CIEN CIEN Ciena Corporation (stock symbol) ) and ONI Systems (Nasdaq: ONIS).
