 MOTOROLA 33-MHZ 68040 MICROPROCESSORS POWER NEXT TURBO PRODUCTS
 AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Microprocessor and Memory Technologies Group of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced that its 33-MHz 68040 provides the processing power for the new Turbo products from NeXT Computer, Inc., including the NeXTstation Turbo, NeXTstation Turbo Color and NeXTcube Turbo.
 Motorola's 33-MHz 68040 along with the newly designed TMC (turbo memory controller) chips from NeXT provide increased performance and functionality in the new systems. The workstations equipped with Motorola's 33-MHz 68040 are rated at 25 MIPS (million instructions per second), compared to NeXT's 25-MHz 68040-based workstations rated at 18 MIPS.

By harnessing the power and speed of the 33-MHz 68040, NeXT can deliver machines that pack the performance users need for their advanced applications," said Jim Reinhart, Motorola's manager 68000 marketing and applications. "Motorola is proud to play a role in defining new levels of computing and functionality with NeXT."
 The faster Turbo versions are based on NeXT's existing family of workstations. NeXTstation is the most affordable and compact NeXT computer and NeXTstation Color is a 16-bit, PostScript color version of the NeXTstation. NeXTcube is an expandable NeXT computer with flexible configuration options that can be used as a network server or high-end desktop computer.
 The NeXTstation Turbo and NeXTstation Turbo Color workstations are available immediately with prices beginning at $5,995 and $8,995, respectively. The NeXTcube Turbo will begin shipping early second quarter starting at $10,995.
