MOTOROLA, INC. ISSUES STATEMENT ON NAFTA

WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The following press statement was issued by Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) in response to the Gore-Perot debate on the North American Free Trade Agreement:
Tonight's debate clearly demonstrates the Administration's commitment to obtaining passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
We are encouraged by the momentum gained by NAFTA in recent weeks. We believe that the debate served an important role in airing the overwhelmingly positive case for NAFTA, and will help obtain the additional support needed for passage by Congress.
Motorola supports NAFTA because it will allow us to serve the Mexican market more efficiently from production facilities located in the U.S., giving U.S.-made products a significant cost advantage over our European and Asian competitors.
