MOTORIST IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER HIS TRUCK HITS POWER POLE.

Byline: Stacy Brown Daily News Staff Writer

A Saugus man was critically injured Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash that triggered a temporary power outage at a busy intersection, officials said.

Brian Moze, 43, suffered major injuries when he lost control of his 1996 Toyota pickup about 4:50 a.m. near Sand Canyon and Soledad Canyon roads, authorities said. His truck crashed into the center divider, then veered back across Soledad Canyon Road and onto the sidewalk, where it hit two traffic control boxes, a street sign, a fire hydrant and a power pole, said Lt. Daniel Castillo.

``It was some crash,'' Castillo said. ``The impact was strong enough to cause the air bag to deploy.''

Moze might have had a medical problem that caused him to lose control of his vehicle, Castillo said. He was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
