The decision made by Irwindale Speedway to continue racing was not an easy one, but it was one it took great care in making. The following is their explanation for their decision. An Open Letter from Irwindale Speedway: The management, employees, crews and drivers of Irwindale Speedway join with the rest of the reasonable people of the world in expressing our deepest condolences to the families, friends and loved ones loved ones npl → seres mpl queridos loved ones npl → proches mpl et amis chers loved ones love npl of the victims of Tuesday's horrible attacks on America. We have been faced with making a difficult decision. Would it be appropriate to hold a sporting event of seemingly insignificant importance in light of the suffering that is taking place in our country this week? After serious reflection on this, we have decided that the best way to thwart the efforts of those who seek to destroy our American way of life, a life of peace, freedom, hard work and play, and the best way to honor those who have died while innocently going about their lives, is for us to not yield to their wishes, but to preserve our way of life as best we can. Saturday night is Fan Appreciation Night at the Speedway. General Admission is $5 and hot dogs are only a buck. We hope you can come out and join us so that we may express our gratitude to you, the race fans, who have made weekly auto racing in Southern California a success. We hope you will join us in celebrating and participating in the American way of life. Sincerely, Robert A.
