That was the menu served up by the sons and fathers of Boy Scout Troop 127, who have followed that same recipe for the past 36 Mother's Days.

The Suwara family, who for two decades have made the scouts' Mother's Day breakfast a family tradition, passed the annual celebration on to a new generation.

``We're all meeting here for breakfast. It's like the family tradition,'' said Carol Suwara of Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964.  and bearing their handmade expressions of love, it was something to savor, Suwara said.

``It makes you just want to treasure that moment forever,'' she said. ``So tomorrow when they're grumpy getting up, I'll try and remember that moment.''

``It's to get the kids involved in service to the community and in honor of mothers,'' said Gunn, whose father started the annual breakfast back in 1963. ``People meet with friends each year. Some people have been coming for 20 or 30 years.''

The breakfast was started as a way for the 52-year-old Scout troop to raise funds for tents and camp stoves. Today, it continues to be one of the troop's main fund-raisers and helps pay for supplies and Scouting excursions.

More than 500 were served during Sunday's event, which was sponsored by Albertson's supermarkets and Cisco's Mexican Restaurant in Westlake Village. The fund-raiser typically raises between $2,000 and $3,000 for the troop.

Not long ago, there was talk of bringing down the curtain on the breakfast, but the troop decided to hold on to the tradition.

``Then there was talk of doing one for Father's Day. But I overruled it,'' Gunn said with a smile.
