Eugene's Sisley sets more age group records

CARTHAGE, Mo. - Eugene athlete Becky Sisley set two American age-group records at the USATF USATF United States of America Track and Field (governing body for T&F, Race Walking & Distance Running)  National Masters Decathlon/Heptathlon competition Sunday.

Women's athletics competition. Contestants take part in seven different track-and-field events: 100-m hurdles, shot put, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, and 200- and 800-m runs.
 record of 4,505 points with a 5,121 total.

Of that total, 1,125 points came from the javelin, where she threw 106 feet, 8 inches to break her own American record in that event.

Olympia's Herrick wins Mid-Amateur trip

TUALATIN - Thomas Herrick, of Olympia, Wash., shot a 34-35-69 to earn medalist honors and a trip to the U.S. Mid-Amateur on Monday during sectional qualifying at Tualatin Country Club.

Herrick will be joined by three Oregon golfers - Brooks Newsom of Portland, Eric Fiskum of Salem and Ryan Fery of Beaverton. Newsom and Fiskum tied for second at 71, while Fery was fourth with a 72 in the field of 64 golfers.

SPRINGFIELD - Eugene's Sulman Raza won the Pee-Wee (age 8-11) division of the Springfield Junior Championships on Monday at Springfield Country Club.

Raza, 10, shot a 1-under-par 35 over nine holes to win the competition.
