MORE FUN IN THE SUN KAISER DONATION WILL KEEP POOLS OPEN TWO MORE WEEKS.

Byline: PATRICK ST. MICHEL

GRANADA HILLS -- For Robert Noreik, the public pool is more than just a place for kids to practice back flips and cannonballs -- it helps keep them out of trouble.

"The pool gives us something to do," he said. "It keeps a lot of kids off the street."

Thanks to a $121,000 donation from Kaiser Permanente Kaiser Permanente is an integrated managed care organization, based in Oakland, California, founded in 1945 by industrialist Henry J. "We come here four times a week," she said. "It's something for the boys to do."

And the extension is great news, she said. Now, she expects to visit the pool even more, including weekends.

After yet another trip off the diving board, Robert, 15, of Torrance took a break and sat down on a bench. He said he expects to be doing this a lot until Sept. 16.

"I'll probably come every day," he said. "It's so hot, I got to cool down somehow."
