MORE CHANGES FOR KIRO NEWS IN 1993

SEATTLE, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- With the merger of its television and radio staffs, KIRO News had the largest news staff west of Chicago and north of Los Angeles by year-end 1992.
KIRO now produces 41 hours of news weekly -- more than any other network affiliate in the nation. Yet, for the 160 professionals working at KIRO News, there's no time to rest in 1993. There are more changes in the wind at Seattle's CBS affiliate, according to Andy Ludlum, vice president of news operations for KIRO Inc.
"When it comes to news, Puget Sound residents are always looking for more information and less hype, and we intend to continue delivering comprehensive, up-to-the-minute news," Ludlum said. "However, KIRO is making changes in how information is delivered, and to create a better product we have broken some pretty sacred broadcast rules."
Early this year, KIRO will unveil a dramatically different approach to providing radio and television news, including redefining the roles of broadcast professionals.
KIRO-TV Channel 7, KIRO Newsradio 710 AM and 100.7 FM reach more than 1.3 million people(A) each week and produce more news and information programming than any other Puget Sound area broadcast company. The stations are owned by Bonneville International Corp. in Salt Lake City.
