MOORPARK SUFFERS GROWING PAINS : WESTLAKE 11, MOORPARK 2.

Byline: Heather Gripp Daily News Staff Writer

Welcome to the Marmonte League.

Westlake reminded the Moorpark High baseball team of the Marmonte's power as the Warriors beat the visiting Musketeers 11-2 on Wednesday.

Sophomore Tyler Adamczyk (2-0) made the start in place of Jesse Kozlowski, whose sore shoulder kept him from making his scheduled start. The right-hander wasn't overpowering, but kept the Musketeers off balance. He gave up three hits in five innings while striking out five.

``I wasn't nervous,'' Adamczyk said. ``I just threw my game. First-pitch strikes were the most important thing.

``When you have a team hitting like this, it helps you a lot.''

Westlake (8-1-1, 3-1) had 14 hits and chased Moorpark starter Nile London in the third.

``We were beat in every aspect of the game,'' Moorpark coach Scott Fullerton said. ``Yesterday we played a good game, but today we just didn't do anything.

``If you play a poor game in this league you can't expect to win. Hopefully there won't be anymore poor games.''

After winning their first two Marmonte League games, the Musketeers (6-5, 2-2 suffered their first Marmonte loss Tuesday when a 5-0 lead turned into a 6-5 loss against Thousand Oaks.

Kozlowski highlighted a four-run third for the Warriors with a two-run home run to left that made it 5-0. Aaron Borenstein drove in another run with a single to left, chasing London from the game. Jon Shepard continued the rally by singling off reliever Danny Buckley.

Garett Michaels led off the fourth with a homer to center. Two outs later, Alan Osborne hit a solo shot to the same spot, making it 9-2.

Osborne was 3 for 3, falling short of the cycle by a triple.
