The block had been transformed into Bannon Springs, Ga., the setting for an episode of NBC's popular ``Profiler'' drama, which spent the day filming in downtown Moorpark. The episode will air at 10 p.m. Nov. 6.

Assistant location manager Bill McLellan said Moorpark was chosen because of its classic frame buildings and lack of Southern California's signature palm trees.

``When a street is palm tree-lined, it screams Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, ,'' McLellan said. ``And the frame buildings say a different time and place.''

Moorpark has been the site of eight shoots so far this year, compared with two or three during an average year, said Graham Mitchell Mitchell, city (1990 pop. 13,798), seat of Davison co., SE S.Dak.; inc. 1881. Mitchell is a trade, distribution, and shipping center for a dairy and livestock area. , the city's senior management analyst who oversees filming requests.

Mitchell said the city hasn't tracked the value of shoots to the city and hasn't marketed Moorpark, but is beginning to gather data now as the number of shoots have increased.

``We're not quite sure of the economic impact but we hope to document that by the end of year,'' he said.

Mitchell said Moorpark also is considered a beneficial shooting location because of its proximity to Hollywood and the number of production staff who live within driving distance of the city.
