MOOG REPLACES BMC SOFTWARE WITH CA'S UNICENTER DB2 MANAGEMENT.

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), Islandia, N.Y., has announced that Moog Inc Moog, is a worldwide designer and manufacturer of motion and fluid controls and control systems for applications in aerospace, defense, industrial and medical device markets. ., a worldwide manufacturer of precision motion control components and systems, has replaced BMC software BMC Software, Inc. NYSE: BMC, is an American enterprise management software provider, focusing on IT infrastructure applications. BMC was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.  and standardized on CA's industry-leading Unicenter database management solutions to control costs while managing and upgrading its core IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  DB2 databases.

Moog is taking advantage of CA's Rescue Program to replace its existing BMC (BMC Software, Inc., Houston, TX, www.bmc.com) A leading supplier of software that supports and improves the availability, performance, and recovery of applications in complex computing environments.  DB2, automation and performance software with CA's Unicenter suite for DB2 for z/OS and OS/390 and Unicenter performance and automation solutions.

The highly automated Unicenter solutions streamline database maintenance tasks and reduce the manual work involved in administering, upgrading and migrating IBM DB2 databases.

As part of its upgrade project, Moog also replaced BMC Software's MAINVIEW for OS/390, MAINVIEW for DB2, and MAINVIEW AutoOPERATOR for OS/390 with Unicenter CA-SYSVIEW Realtime Performance Management, Unicenter CA-Insight for DB2, and Unicenter CA-OPS/MVS Event Management and Automation. The CA solutions enable system administrators to analyze z/OS and OS/390 performance across all applications and automate operations to ensure system availability and improved efficiency.

"Unicenter CA-OPS/MVS allows us to write rules to automate escalation of events -- something that was not possible using the BMC products -- and that improves our operational efficiency," said Terry Skelton, Operations Supervisor at Moog. "This was above and beyond replacing all of the functionality of BMC MAINVIEW and AutoOPERATOR, of course."

 upgrade project, Moog is also replacing its Remedy Help Desk from Peregine with the Unicenter Service Desk, a solution that enables system administrators to cohesively manage critical support operations from a central console. Moog plans to provide highly integrated and automated support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  across its mainframe and distributed IT environment using Unicenter Service Desk.

CA's Rescue Program offers customers the opportunity to replace existing software products on both mainframe and distributed platforms with CA solutions that provide superior functionality. Hundreds of companies throughout the world have taken advantage of CA's Rescue Program, which includes services, education and training to speed deployment of the CA solutions.
