MOOG ACQUIRES OUTSTANDING SHARES OF ESPRIT TECHNOLOGY
EAST AURORA, N.Y., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Moog Inc. (AMEX: MOG)

announced today it had acquired all of the outstanding shares of ESPRIT Technology, Inc. of Walnut Creek, Calif.
ESPRIT, founded in 1983, had sales in 1991 of $2.0 million. It develops and manufactures advanced transducers and instrumentation equipment, including systems for monitoring aircraft structural integrity. Principal products are flight loads recorders, accelerometers and mini air data computers. ESPRIT's primary market is the monitoring and recording of aircraft stresses and acceleration loads. Approximately 80 percent of the company's sales are overseas.
"ESPRIT's innovative technology has established the company as a significant competitor in the growing market for the sophisticated analysis of the integrity of aircraft structures," observed Dr. Richard Aubrecht, Moog's Chairman. "With the number of new military aircraft built by the U.S.A. and overseas being severely reduced, it is becoming increasingly important to perfect techniques to extend the service life of existing airframes," Dr. Aubrecht further noted.
Mr. Robert Brady, Moog's President, stated "We believe Moog's experienced electronic capability coupled with our world-wide marketing and support facilities will enable us to accelerate ESPRIT's international market development. We will also be seeking to expand ESPRIT's sales into the emerging market for structural fatigue monitoring systems for buildings, boats, large vehicles, earthquake monitoring, helicopters and windmills, and similar industrial applications."
Mr. Jack Reichel, ESPRIT's President, stated "ESPRIT has established itself as a world-wide leader in structural loads monitoring technology; with access to Moog's manufacturing and international marketing resources now available to us, we believe the combination should be truly synergistic. We are especially optimistic over the prospect of utilizing Moog's capabilities to expand into the European markets."
Moog Inc. manufactures precision controls for aerospace, defense and industrial applications.
