It is situated in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The park covers 4,210 acres (17 km²) of land, making it one of the largest urban parks in North America. .

Montes followed his tournament-best opening round of 67 (shot Tuesday at par-72 Harding) with a 74 on the more difficult Wilson (also par 72) to win the San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina

Bo Kim, the only Palisades senior, secured the win and an 11-stroke margin over runner-up Chatsworth when he brought in a 78 as the last man out in the Dolphins' six-man lineup.

Kim's strong finish came on the heels of a 79 by sophomore teammate Andy Van Leesten and helped Palisades (794) pull away after Chatsworth (805) had been within three strokes with two players out for both schools.

Josh McIntire (77) and Andy Petrocelli (78) led Chatsworth, which led Palisades by a stroke after the first round.

``I think our kids did OK,'' said Chatsworth coach Dick Pendergast, who will retire next month after 10 seasons with the golf team. ``You've got to hand it to Palisades - they have a lot of young players and they're only going to get better.''

The Dolphins' best player, sophomore Turner, could never get closer than three strokes to Montes on Wednesday, despite a closing 2-under-par 70 that was the best round of a cold and windy day.

``He played solid,'' Turner said of Montes. ``Not as good as (Tuesday) but good enough to win.''

That was Montes' game plan from the start Wednesday - just stay close to par and make the competition birdie to catch up. In Turner's case, the seven stroke margin proved too much to overcome, thanks mostly to Montes' accuracy, as he missed just two fairways and two greens for a second straight round to complete a 67-74-141 championship effort.

``I played OK,'' said Montes, who was in the same foursome with Turner. ``I felt if I shot even par, that 's all I had to do. I thought 2-over-par would win it.''

Sylmar coach Herb Sampang said Montes - City 4-A League co-player of the year, with North Hollywood's Matt Ansis - has improved steadily throughout his career with the Spartans.

``As a freshman, he shot in the 90s, but he continued to play and this year he's kept steady at about 3 over par. The school is very proud of him.''

Palisades and Chatsworth advance to the June 6 CIF/SCGA championship at Murietta, as do the top 10 City finishers not on those two teams.

Granada Hills, which dominated the 1990s with five team titles, tied San Pedro for fourth at 819, three strokes back of fast-charging Hamilton, which threatened to catch Chatsworth for the runner-up spot after trailing the Chancellors by 16 strokes entering the final round.

``We just didn't have the experience,'' said Granada Hills coach Joe White, who had no varsity returnees on his 6-A League co-championship team that finished 11-1 but struggled in the City tournament. ``We just aren't tournament tough.''

Hamilton coach Gary Pozzo had it even tougher, playing the entire season with just five players - the minimum for scoring in any match.
