MONTEREY HIGH AMONG TOP IN STATE CONTINUATION CAMPUS HONORED AS ROLE MODEL.

BURBANK - A ``buddy system'' matching teachers and students and an agriculture program that helps teens learn life skills earned Monterey High honors Thursday as one of the state's top continuation schools continuation school: see vocational education. .

``We work hard to make sure that our students learn,'' said Keith Lang, 35, who teaches social studies, history and government. ``We teach them the appropriate standards and skills, and we care about our students.''

Burbank Unified Superintendent Gregory Bowman noted that Monterey was named a model school from 1997-2002.

``There's a proud heritage here,'' he said. ``From its inception, the district and the community have welcomed Monterey High School Monterey High School can refer to the following secondary schools:

Crystal Dunning, 18, transferred from John Burroughs High School John Burroughs High School is a public high school located in Burbank, California. Emilio Urioste, Jr. is the current principal. The school was built in the 1920's, but wasn't established as a high school until 1948. The school was named after naturalist John Burroughs.  in 2004 so she could more intensely focus on her studies and get away from the chaos of a large high school.

The university is adjacent to Grant High School. Often called "Valley College" or simply "Valley" by those who frequent the campus, it opened its doors to the public on September 12, 1949, at which time the campus was
