MONTANA POWER SELLS $80 MILLION OF POLLUTION CONTROL REVENUE BONDS

 BUTTE, Mont., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- On Dec. 1, 1993, the City of Forsyth priced $80 million of Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (PCRB) for the benefit of The Montana Power Co. (NYSE: MTP), the company announced today. The bonds, secured by the company's First Mortgage Bonds, have a coupon of 5.9 percent, with the yield to investors at 5.92 percent. Closing will be on Dec. 30, 1993. Underwriters were Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Citicorp Securities and D.A. Davidson & Co.
 Proceeds from the transaction will be used to retire on Jan. 1, 1994, $40 million of 10 percent PCRB Series due 2004, and $40 million of 10-1/8 percent PCRB Series due 2014.
 The refinancing will reduce Montana Power's annual interest expense by an estimated $2.8 million.
