MONSTERS IN HARMONY AT MALL.

The Wolfman, Frankenstein, Vampira and Dracula are dancing and singing hand in hand at the Antelope Valley Mall The Antelope Valley Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Palmdale, California.

Actually, they are performers from ``Haunting Melodies,'' a chorale chorale (kōrăl`, –räl`), any of the traditional hymns of the German Protestant Church. The form was developed after the Reformation to replace the plainsong of the earlier service and as a means of congregational participation in  review which combines melodies from the Broadway musical ``Phantom of the Opera'' and '50s tunes.

``Haunting Melodies'' will begin at 5 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 25, with an encore performance at 6 p.m. Oct. 31 at the mall's Oasis Food Court. There is no charge.

Cutler approached mall management with the idea of having dinner theater in the food court, starting with excerpts from ``Les Miserables'' last summer. The free Saturday evening shows drew hundreds.

``Being a pianist at the mall, I saw people appreciate the music,'' Cutler said. ``It was this dream, this little desire I had.''

The cast is composed of Antelope Valley residents, who have been devoting five to six hours once or twice a week for rehearsals since August. They aren't paid.

``We get to perform in front of a lot of people and let them know there are talented people to fill their cultural needs in the Antelope Valley,'' said Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA.
