MONKEYSHINES CHARM IN 'CURIOUS GEORGE'.

Byline: Glenn Whipp Film Critic

CURIOUS GEORGE'' is that rare Hollywood movie that absolutely nails the spirit of its source material, presenting the simian hero of Margret and H.A. Rey's children's series with a genuine gentleness and affable good spirit. Charmingly animated in a vibrant 2-D style that preserves and even enhances the look of the books, this is a movie that will easily win over kids, not to mention parents weary of the recent boom of too-hip-for-this-room animated movies that strain for cleverness.

The movie provides the back story about how George met The Man With the Yellow Hat (now given the name Ted, with Will Ferrell John William "Will" Ferrell (born July 16, 1967[1]) is an Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated American comedian, impressionist, writer and actor who first established himself as a cast member of Saturday Night Live,  providing nimble vocal work). But this is George and Ted's excellent adventure, with the monkey gently teaching the master a thing or two about enjoying life's possibilities.

The impossibly adorable George gets in a fair share of trouble. If you've read the books, you know about the balloons and the zoo and the wonders of George's interior paintwork paintwork
