MONEY ACCESS SERVICE INC. TO NAME NEW CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

PHILADELPHIA, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Money Access Service Inc. is in the process of identifying candidates to replace Chief Technology Officer Thomas McHugh, who is leaving the company to accept a position as Chief Operating Officer for a start-up technology organization.
McHugh will remain with Money Access Service Inc. until March 26, continuing to lead the technology task force that is proceeding with the systems integration of the partner networks -- Green Machine, MAC, OWL, Trinet and Banc One's Jubilee network. The systems integration process involves building the best features and functions of each network into a new, expanded platform that will be available to all network participants.
"Since joining the MAC network in 1982, Tom has made a significant contribution to the development of network services and operations," said Michael L. Douglas, president of Money Access Service Inc. "Most recently, his leadership of the technology task force laid the foundation for the significant progress being made in the area of platform enhancement and integration." Douglas added that implementation of the plan is on target, with links currently being installed between the MAC switch and partner networks.
"It's not surprising that other technology companies would want to draw on our talent pool given our history of innovative systems development," said Douglas. While Douglas did not provide a specific time frame for the naming of McHugh's replacement, it is clear that one of the duties of the new chief technology officer will be to open the new, state-of-the-art data processing center for Money Access Service Inc., for which ground will be broken in early April. The center will be located adjacent to the new Money Access Services Inc. headquarters in the Wilmington, Del., area.
The MAC system currently has 1,400 participating financial institutions in 16 states (primarily in the Middle Atlantic and Midwest regions) and 26 million cardholders. The MAC network is the leading regional EFT network for switched transactions, with approximately 21 percent of the national switched volume. It is the top EFT network in total transactions and a leading provider of point of sale services, recording 1 billion transactions annually through the 13,000 ATMs and more than 20 million POS transactions annually at 17,000 POS locations.
