The complex, which is managed under the auspices of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is across the street from the Pinecrest private school and near the Sunshine day care center. ``County taxpayers must not be required to pay for the public housing of a registered sex offender in close proximity to schoolchildren schoolchildren school npl → écoliers mpl; (at secondary school) → collégiens mpl; lycéens mpl schoolchildren school ,'' Antonovich said in a prepared statement. ``This action follows the establishment of the county's Amber Alert system,(and) the Sex Offender Locator Site I established in 2002. Wood, who was convicted of a sexual offense with a minor in January 2003, received a 180-day sentence, served 90 days, and is on probation through January 2006, according to the county.
