MOLESTATION LAWSUITS END EX-ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL STILL FIGHTING OUTSIDE COURT TO KEEP CREDENTIALS.

LANCASTER - Lawsuits involving Antelope Valley Union High School District The Antelope Valley Union High School District (A.V.U.H.S.D.) is located in the Antelope Valley area of California, in northern Los Angeles County.

The district includes eight public high schools, one trade school, and two continuation high schools in the cities of Palmdale
, a former assistant principal and a former student he was accused of molesting have been dismissed.

The dismissals were part of an out-of-court settlement An agreement reached between the parties in a pending lawsuit that resolves the dispute to their mutual satisfaction and occurs without judicial intervention, supervision, or approval. , the terms of which are confidential, attorneys said.

Gilbert Lara was criminally charged but the case was dropped in the middle of trial in 2003 after prosecutors said his teen accuser's credibility came into question. Lara denied all allegations.

The teenager filed a personal-injury lawsuit against Lara and the high school district in June 2003, three weeks before the criminal charges were dismissed against Lara.

In March 2004, school district officials filed a lawsuit asking the court to declare that district taxpayers were not required to pay for Lara's defense in the teen's civil lawsuit.

Lara, formerly Antelope Valley High School Antelope Valley High School is located in Lancaster, California and is part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District. It was founded in 1912[1]. It is located in the Mojave Desert.  assistant principal, was placed on unpaid leave after his arrest in January 2003. He returned to work - in a different assignment - after the criminal charges were dropped, and he now works on curriculum at the district office.

A committee that investigates allegations of misconduct recommended that that Lara's teaching and administrative credentials be revoked.

Lara appealed the recommendation, and a review of his request was pending, officials of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) is an independent agency created in 1970 by the Ryan Act and is the oldest of the autonomous state standards boards in the nation. The mission of the CCTC is to facilitate the credentialing of California's teachers.  said Monday.
