MOBIL TO PHASE OUT PRINCETON, NJ RESEARCH FACILITY.


PRINCETON Princeton, borough (1990 pop. 12,016) and surrounding township (1990 pop. 13,198), Mercer co., W central N.J.; settled late 1600s, borough inc. 1813, township est. 1838. Approximately 2,400 employees work at the three REEA facilities and the total workforce reduction is expected to be about 20 percent. A significant number of the approximate 900 REEA, Mobil Chemical Company and Mobil Medical employees who now work at the Princeton facility will be assigned as·sign

The Paulsboro Lab is a key link in the research-to-marketplace chain that develops new products and process technology.

The Mobil Exploration & Producing Technical Center (MEPTEC) in Dallas operates two major facilities that provide geoscience/engineering support for Mobil's worldwide oil and gas upstream From the consumer to the provider. See downstream.

 project begun in October 1994. During this phase, fifty Mobil people worked full time, with input from a broad cross-section of employees worldwide, to develop a model for the new organization.

In the second phase of the project, taskforces of Mobil employees will complete work on detailed design, roles, responsibilities, and final implementation. Specifics of the organizational redesign and individual job assignments are not yet known. However, employees whose jobs will be eliminated as a result of the staff redesign project will be notified prior to March 31, 1996.
