MOBIL IS MAJOR SPONSOR OF UPLIFT INTERNATIONAL'S SECOND MEDICAL RELIEF AIRLIFT FROM U.S. TO INDONESIA.


FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 1999--Mobil Corporation announced today that it's affiliate Mobil Oil Indonesia (MOI) is a major sponsor of UPLIFT International's second medical relief airlift from the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. In addition to its most recent sponsorship of project UPLIFT, MOI, working together with many different agencies and the local communities in Aceh Province in North Sumatra and throughout Indonesia, has initiated a broad range of community projects to bring roads, schools, clean water and health care to the Indonesian people.

Highlights of these community relations efforts are highlighted below:

- MOI started operating a civic mission clinic in 1979 and added another in 1983. These two civic mission clinics have treated over 150,000 patients and administered over 250,000 prescriptions annually:

- Construction of three school buildings and religious facility repairs in 1998;

- Community development internship program through Syiah Kuala Unversity in Banda Aceh;

- Ongoing educational and training assistance to staff - now more than 430 apprentices have graduated from MOI's apprenticeship program. In addition, MOI offers educational scholarships for employees and their families as well as for university students throughout Indonesia;

- Just recently MOI assisted with an irrigation irrigation, in agriculture, artificial watering of the land. Although used chiefly in regions with annual rainfall of less than 20 in.
