MOBIL DISCOVERS NATURAL GAS FIELD OFFSHORE ALABAMA
FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobil (NYSE: MOB) announced

today the discovery of a new natural gas field beneath state waters offshore Alabama.
Located half a mile north of Dauphin Island, Mobil's Block 75-1 well flowed natural gas at a rate of 20.5 million cubic feet a day through a 30/64-inch choke with a flowing tubing pressure of 4,000 pounds per square inch.
The well was drilled to a measured depth of 21,863 feet and tested the Norphlet formation. State Block 75 was leased from the state in 1988 for a bonus payment of $25.2 million. Working interest partners in the well are Mobil (87 percent) and Amoco (13 percent).
