MLS: MAPP'S LAST-MINUTE GOAL SINKS GALAXY L.A. FALLS BELOW .500 WITH LOSS TO CHICAGO CHICAGO 2, GALAXY 1.

Byline: Larry Morgan Staff Writer

CARSON - The Galaxy was home for the first time in more than a month, and players were feeling better about themselves after collecting two impressive victories away from home.

It all gave way to more frustration Sunday at Home Depot The Home Depot (NYSE: HD) is an American retailer of home improvement and construction products and services.

Sunday's finish was eerily similar to other last-second shockers at HDC (Hard Disk Controller) See disk controller.

Now this.

``This one's the worst,'' said Galaxy forward Herculez Gomez, who scored his fifth goal of the year in the 24th minute and, with better fortune, might have had two more. ``I thought we were finally getting around the corner and showing everybody we're a team that can win this.

``To let that one go in in the last second is unacceptable at any level.''

Mapp, a 20-year-old midfielder on the cusp of the U.S. national team, took control of the ball outside the Galaxy box, raced past Cobi Jones (UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles

), Pete Vagenas and Tyrone Marshall, then let fly with a left-footer that barely eluded diving Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.

``We played to win and created enough opportunities to win,'' Galaxy coach Steve Sampson said. ``We didn't handle the last few minutes well at all.

``They have to respect the game and the opponent a bit more in those kinds of situations. Foul a player at a key time. ... That would have been one of those moments, even at the expense of taking a yellow (card), even at the expense of taking a red.

``Just poor decisions, and we need to make very good ones.''
