BLOG DESCRIPTION: Seattle writer/ professional dominatrix's personal musings, rants and life- trivia.

This professional blogger and columnist for the Seattle- based alternative newspaper, The Stranger, is simply known as Mistress Matisse. Her bi- weekly columns, titled The Control Tower, offer advice on ' polyamory' and BDSM. Matisse decided to start blogging way back in 2000 for two reasons: " I'd like a place to kick around ideas for future columns, and because I'd like a place to talk about local events in a sex- positive community," she said in her first blog dated February 14, 2004, adding: " I'm hoping that it'll also be a way for some of my friends to keep up with what I'm up to, since I'm way busy all the time and am thus not always so fast with my e- mail correspondence." Right from the beginning, Matisse felt good about creating erotic experiences to share with her partners. " It's just a talent of mine," she said. A friend of hers once remarked, ' Matisse is fluent in sex'. She harnessed two sets of talents together, and thus her blog was born.

Selections of her writings that were a huge rage on the World Wide Web also appear in The Mammoth Book of Sex Diaries: The Ultimate Collection of Sex Blogs . During a recent interview, she was asked why there were more women sex bloggers than men.

She replied: " The idea which I have heard, but don't necessarily subscribe to, is that both women and men want to read about sex from a woman's point of view. But why don't ( straight) male readers want to read about another man's sexual thoughts? An interesting question, though."
