MISTAKE LANDS BIRDS IN HARD PLACE UNTIL TOWN COMES TO AID.

Zubeck called the subsequent rescue operation a great community effort, and said many more of the birds would have died if residents had not volunteered. Once on the water, Zubeck said, the birds seemed to calm down. He expected them to start their migration again in several days.

The duck-like grebe grebe (grēb), common name for swimming birds found on or near quiet waters in most parts of the world. Grebes resemble the loon and the duck; they have short wings, vestigial tails, and long, individually webbed toes on feet that are set far back , about the size of a pigeon, lives on small fish and insects and uses its big, three-toed feet to run across the water to take off.
