MISSION LEAGUE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS: MERZ STEALS SHOW WITH SUPERB DAY.

Byline: Dave Shelburne Staff Writer

Alexa Merz of Harvard-Westlake of Studio City and Blake Nillson of Chaminade of West Hills kept extraordinary swim seasons going strong Thursday, both winning every event they entered in the Mission League championships at Oaks Christian of Westlake Village.

Merz, who led the Harvard-Westlake girls to an undefeated league season, won the 200-yard freestyle The code name for the MCE version of Windows. See Media Center Edition.  in 1 minute, 57.42 seconds, the 100 freestyle in 52.81 and anchored victories in the 200 medley med·ley

``It was kind of an ordinary meet for her,'' Harvard-Westlake coach Darleen Bible Bible [Gr.,=the books], term used since the 4th cent. to denote the Christian Scriptures and later, by extension, those of various religious traditions.  and she's not even going to taper for (the Southern Section Div. I meet) because she's going to be working to make the Olympic Trials.''

Nillson, the season-long do-it-all for a seriously shorthanded Chaminade boys team, won the 200 individual medley (2:01.15) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.04).

``He's huge,'' Chaminade coach Rob Triplett said of Nillson'simportance to the Eagles. ``We have only four boys on the team, so he's tremendous. He wins every time he goes out. He never loses.''

``I think there's a little more,'' Nillson said of his postseason chances after winning his third consecutive league breaststroke title in a senior season that earned him school records for the breaststroke and 200 IM.

Nillson, Merz and the Mission League's other postseason qualifiers - including double league champions Renee Viveros of Alemany of Mission Hills, and Aaron Casey and Mitchell Andrejich of Loyola of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  - go next in the Div.
