of La Canada Flintridge and Louisville of Woodland Hills might have played to a scoreless draw Wednesday night, but there weren't any empty feelings being expressed by either team.

In a showdown for first place in the Mission League, both girls' soccer teams were able to leave St. Francis High's Friedman Field the same way they arrived - without a loss.

``Getting out of here with a tie is big time,'' said Louisville coach Jose Perez, whose team extended its unbeaten streak to nine games. ``That's a great team over there (in Flintridge Sacred Heart). Both teams had their chances to score and both goalies made great saves. It was a good game to watch.''

Flintridge Sacred Heart (12-2-2, 1-0-2) - ranked seventh by the Daily News - controlled the flow of play in the first half, producing three of its six corner kicks in a seven-minute stretch. But No. 5 Louisville (7-3-6, 3-0-1) withstood the pressure, before regrouping to create a handful of quality chances for itself in the final 40 minutes.

``It's a good league and it's good competition. It's fun to play good teams like (Louisville),'' Flintridge Sacred Heart co-coach Frank Pace said. ``They play really good defense and they collapse well and they don't give you a lot of opportunities. They're a dangerous team ... they scrap for every ball, so you have to be alert all the time.''

Franklin contributed to an equally impressive defensive effort by Flintridge Sacred Heart, with Angie Torres, Stefanie Chan and Lauren Bustos also contributing the Tologs' ninth shutout.

``You cherish any point you can get in this league,'' said Pace, whose team plays at four-time defending league champion Harvard-Westlake of Studio City on Saturday.

``It's a 10-game marathon, not a sprint. You have to have gas left in the tank at the end.''
