The first color printer series co-developed by Minolta and QMS since the formation of MINOLTA-QMS Inc., this family of letter/A4 color laser printers is designed to make printing more productive in network workgroup settings.

The magicolor 2200 series offers faster print speeds, stronger networking and administration and more choices in document handling to deliver high-quality documents fast, while improving office workflow.

Improving Office Workflow

While print speed and throughput from the network are important and contribute to office workflow, the magicolor 2200 offers additional "convenience" features that can help printer users become more productive.

-- Higher Paper Input -- Offering up to 1,150 sheets of paper

input, the magicolor 2200 can be used frequently without

constant refilling by printer users.

-- Duplexing -- Two-sided printing, or duplexing, can be

performed on all magicolor 2200 printer models. An automatic

duplexer can be purchased optionally and is a standard feature

on the DP model. Duplexing not only saves paper and paper

storage costs, it allows users to develop two-sided reports,

newsletters, brochures and other documents in full color.

-- Addressable Mailbox Unit -- The magicolor 2200 can be equipped

with a mailbox option that has five 50-sheet addressable bins.

An individual user can print different jobs to each bin or a

group of users can each be assigned a mail bin to which they

send their documents. This makes it easy to distinguish

between print jobs.

-- Color Copying and Scanning -- Add an SC-210 digital color

copier/scanner to the magicolor 2200 and transform it into a

convenient color copier. This combination allows users to

create full-color duplicates from any hard copy document. A

25-sheet Automatic Document Feeder is available for

reproducing multiple page documents. The SC-210 can also be

connected to a PC and used as a scanner. This option not only

makes the most of a user's time, it maximizes the printer

investment.

-- User-Easy Management Tools -- A bundle of printer management

tools included with the magicolor 2200 makes it one of the

easiest color laser printers to use. Individuals can check on

their print jobs and review printer status in a number of

different ways, including through their Internet browser using

the CrownView(TM) printer-based Web page and through the

MINOLTA-QMS printer driver.

Performance for Network Printing

-- Faster Print Speeds -- Using a Minolta print engine, the

magicolor 2200 can print pages as fast as 20 per minute in

black and white and five per minute in color. Some business

workgroups using a mid-range monochrome printer can replace it

with a magicolor 2200 for faster printing with the added

advantage of color. Organizations that have supplemented their

black-and-white network printer with one or more color ink jet

printers can also benefit from using a magicolor 2200 color

laser. Not only is it more cost effective than a color ink

jet, the magicolor 2200 offers significantly better

performance and higher consumable and paper capacity.

-- Fast Throughput -- Crown II technology is a powerful printer

architecture that performs behind-the-scenes action to ensure

print jobs are processed and printed at maximum speed. Even

when multiple users are printing at the same time, jobs are

efficiently moved from the network through the printer.

-- Network Proficiency -- The magicolor 2200 is equipped with

both a "Plug and Play" parallel and auto-sensing 10/100BaseTX

Ethernet interfaces. The Ethernet interface is particularly

effective in that it supports both 10-megabit network LANs as

well as Fast Ethernet networks.

-- Multiple Language Support -- Today's business workgroups are

rarely homogenous. Instead, users are printing from a variety

of different platforms and using an assortment of software

applications. To sustain these types of user groups, each

magicolor 2200 model supports a number of printing languages,

including PostScript, PCL and PDF.

-- Up to 1200 dpi -- The magicolor 2200 doesn't sacrifice quality

for performance. The printer offers up to 1200 dpi resolution

for impressive documents -- from general reports and letters

to presentations and brochures.

-- Automated Color Control -- The last thing printer users want

to be concerned with is adjusting color settings on a printer

to achieve the output they expect. The magicolor 2200 has an

automated color control system that includes AIC (Automatic

Image Calibration). A closed-loop color correction system, AIC

optimizes the printer to produce the most consistent,

high-quality output every time.

-- Flexible Printing -- The magicolor 2200 supports a wide

variety of print media commonly used in the office

environment, including paper, transparencies, envelopes and

thick stocks. The printer's multipurpose tray makes it

possible to print this medley of media types. Whereas the

printer accepts many types of media, it doesn't require any

special kind to achieve the best quality output -- a common

problem with ink jet printers.

The magicolor 2200 Printer Series

The magicolor 2200 color printer series includes four models -- the N, GN, EN and DP. Each produces prints at up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) in black and white and 5 ppm in color, has built-in 10/100BaseTX Ethernet and parallel interfaces and includes a 500-sheet cassette and 150-sheet multipurpose tray.

The magicolor 2200 Print Systems can print on media up to legal (8.5 x 14 inches) in size and are designed to improve office workflow. Through the addition of memory options and document handling features, each model builds on the former to offer businesses more.
