MINNEAPOLIS FIRM TAKES TOP HONORS IN MOST COMPETITIVE CATEGORY OF INTERNATIONAL DIRECT MARKETING AWARDS

MINNEAPOLIS, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Minda Associates, a Twin Cities advertising and pubic relations agency, walked away with the top honor in the most competitive category of the 15th Annual John Caples International Awards for direct marketing. The firm won in the business-to-business direct mail category, presented recently (Feb. 25) at the New York Grand Hyatt attended by over 1,000 leaders in the field.
Minda Associates won over Ogilvy & Mather Direct/London, McCann Direct/Singapore, and Eurocom DMA/London, which came in second and tied for third in the category.
The agency topped approximately 400 entries in the business-to- business direct mail category. All told, the Caples Awards received nearly 1,000 entries from 65 countries.
The winning campaign was developed for Federal Express/Latin America, introducing Overnight Freight Service in Puerto Rico. The "Shaking Up Shipping" campaign sent thousands of hand-painted maracas complete with the FedEx logo and shipping information to businesses throughout the Caribbean.
Merle Minda, who accepted the award for the agency, heads up the firm's advertising and sales promotion division, including the Federal Express/Latin America account. She was aided in the award-winning campaign by copywriter Linda Back McKay, and designers Jim Skille and Warren Hanson.
Incorporated in 1971, the agency has recently changed its name to "Minda Associates Advertising and Public Relations," taking note of the growth in its advertising, sales promotion and collateral client base.
Clients relying on these services include Federal Express/Latin America; Federal Express/Canada; Norwest Banks; IDS Financial Services, Inc.; Green Tree Financial; and Cytrol Systems.
