MINIBANK EXPANDS NETWORK

DENVER, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- MINIBANK, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Interstate Bank of Denver, announced Tuesday it has signed an agreement with Safeway to lease and operate Safeway's automated teller machines as part of the MINIBANK Switch Network. The Safeway locations will add 88 ATMs to MINIBANK, making it the second largest regional ATM network in the state with 248 ATMs.
Frances Draper, president of the MINIBANK Switch Network, and senior vice president and retail area manager at First Interstate, said the bank is extremely pleased with the agreement. "Our alliance with Safeway strengthens MINIBANK and its member institutions by adding many additional ATMs throughout Colorado," she said.
Draper added that MINIBANK also signed an alliance this year with Total Petroleum to own and operate ATMs in many of its metropolitan Denver locations. She explained the top priority of the MINIBANK Network is to provide a strong ATM distribution system for member institutions. "Our focus is on small financial institutions that have few or no branches.
"Unlike most of the ATM networks in Colorado, MINIBANK is locally owned," Draper said. Nearly all of ATM networks in the state are owned by bank holding companies located in other states.
The MINIBANK Network has 68 member institutions, the majority of which are small to mid-size financial organizations. It provides access to CIRRUS, MasterCard, VISA, PLUS, American Express, Discover Card, CU Link, STAR and PULSE.
